The Berliner Fenster is the soundless passenger TV in Berlin's subway. A mixture of current world news, sports, culture, weather, today's events, and advertisement is broadcasted on 3,768 double screens in 1,106 coaches.
We have created a totally new dimension of television in means of our innovative dual display system. The goal is to present information in an enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere without bothering passengers. Thus, we have decided to install two displays side by side omitting sound. One display provides all main pictures like TV would. The second display replaces the sound by showing text. That enables us to deliver the same value of information.
The Berliner Fenster transmits with the DMB-system (digital multimedia broadcasting). Our system is similar to digital television broadcasting. We can guarantee within two minutes that all travellers in Berlin are updated.
